Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that I've set up a Fundraiser Appeal for Darryl
Dikarrnga Brown who is currently staying with iDIDJ Australia. We are
collecting donations which you can make securely by Paypal on the following
page:

http://www.ididj.com.au/education/profiles/darrylfundraiserappeal.html

If you've enjoyed the iDIDJ Australia YouTube channel and learnt something
from Darryl through his expert demonstrations of mago playing, your
humanitarianism and kindness would be most appreciated at this time of
need. I know times are tough for everyone at the moment but let's get
behind Darryl who has been so generous with his knowledge and expertise,
and whose sharing has brought the mago closer to all of us wherever in the
world we might be.

Please forward this message through your network of family and friends,
fellow didgeridoo enthusiasts, work colleagues, etc.

Thank you,

Guan

Excellent stuff GoG. The Yidaakiwuy Dhawu site is a must for anyone interested in the didge and aboriginal culture and we should thank Randy Graves for the initiative that gave voice to the yidaki aspect of Yolngu culture. . Let's hope that it gets translated into as many languages as possible:)))

Another good source is the ididj website, youtube channel (which is one of the best youtube channels out there and a mine for anyone interested in yidaki and Yolngu culture) and forum.,

cheers, Martin

Yep, there is one, and i've just seen that there is an italian version wich is now avaliable.
To answer to your question... there is no "the answer" Everybody has to manage this, honestly. But in my personal view, if you use a traditionnal pattern, no matter if it is a graphical or a sonic pattern, it's better to ensure that it doesn't belong to traditional owners. That is respect, in my opinion.

yeah .. but what is the steal of culture? isn't it steal when we use the idea of the didgeridoo to build our own didgeridoos? or is the problem to imitate aboriginal paintings? (i admit that i didn't read the whole dhawu-site ... so i don't know, if the answer to my question is on this site.)
btw: there's a french version? some german didge players also tried to translate the site, but i think they stopped after a while ..
